Technology Lead – Innovation & Advance Development

Appliances Technology organization has an exciting opportunity for someone with a passion for technologies and innovation. The job requires expertise or knowledge in the multidisciplinary areas of mechanical/electrical/instrumentation engineering, experimental and analytical methods and product design & development. The drivers to develop the new concepts are to excel key customer expectations, create product differentiation thru innovation and generate significant IP portfolio.
Essential Responsibilities –
• Responsible for developing new product/feature concepts jointly with global technology teams and business stakeholders for appliances products like refrigeration & a/c, cooking products, laundry products and water products.
• Should own the advanced development projects. The individual needs to drive the development projects with typical scope of the new concepts development, simulation/CAE analysis, advanced prototyping and validation, preliminary costing & manufacturability assessment and IP creation.
• Continuously keep track of technologies, competition and work closely with global teams to generate and propose new innovative ideas on appliances product-lines.
• Conduct competitive benchmarking, technology landscaping and share the findings
• Work closely with intellectual property (IP) analysts on competitive studies, prior art, and patents evaluation. Actively participate in generation/protection of strategic IP.
• Closely partner with global cross-functional/ matrixed business teams and external engineering GDC teams to ensure in-time project delivery from India technology centre
Qualifications/Requirements –
• Bachelor's or masters degree in Mechanical Engineering with 8-10 years of product development experience
• Strong design/development experience in the domain of automotive, industrial or home appliances. Must have hands-on experience in at least one of the following domains – refrigeration & sealed systems, electromechanical design, thermal/fluid solutions, structures/kinematics/dynamics, controls and automation, robotics
• Ability to assimilate and apply new/adjacent technologies relevant to appliances product lines.
• Exposure to processes related to innovation, ideas generation, IP landscape, patents infringement and patents filing.
• Hands-on experience in prototyping and experimental evaluation using advanced lab instrumentation.
• Ability to work with global (internal/outsourced) teams to drive innovation projects. Ability of working in a multi-tasked-fast paced competitive environment. Demonstrated leadership skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders internally and externally.
Desired Characteristics –
• Exposure to Appliances products and technologies
• Exposure to processes likes six-sigma and NPI
• Experience in predictive tools on flow, thermal or structural analysis, experience in CAD tools like ProE and SolidWorks
• Experience in applications of LabView in experimental automation
